Rock The Ridge
Rock The Ridge is an annual fundraising trail event held at Mohonk Preserve in the Shawangunk Mountains of New York’s Hudson Valley. The 2026 edition takes place on May 2, 2026 and raises funds for Mohonk Preserve’s conservation, education and stewardship work.
Participants can choose from these course options:
- 50 mile Ultra Marathon
- 26.2 mile Trail Marathon
- Two, three or four person relay teams
The course follows well-marked, wide historic carriage roads that pass through forests and over ridgelines with scenic vistas. The 50 mile course has an 18 hour cutoff. The event provides closely spaced, well-stocked aid stations, on-course volunteers and a finish-line gathering. Participants who fundraise receive personalized fundraising support.
Now in its thirteenth year, Rock The Ridge supports the preserve’s mission to protect the northern Shawangunk Ridge and to inspire public engagement with the natural world. Mohonk Preserve manages more than 8,000 acres of ridges, forests, fields, streams and ponds, and maintains carriage roads and trails, multiple trailheads and a visitor center. Funds raised during the event help sustain the preserve’s Conservation and Community Education, Stewardship and Visitor Experience programs.
