Rock The Ridge

Rock The Ridge is a 50-mile endurance challenge that also includes a shorter trail marathon distance and relay options. It takes place on May 2, 2026 within the Mohonk Preserve in New York's Shawangunk Mountains. The event is a major fundraiser for the Mohonk Preserve.

The course uses the preserve's wide, well-maintained carriage roads, passing through forests and over ridgelines with scenic views. Participants can enter as:

  • A 50-mile ultra marathon runner.
  • A 26.2-mile trail marathon runner.
  • A member of a two, three, or four-person relay team.

The event offers an 18-hour time limit to complete the 50-mile distance. Aid stations are described as well-stocked and closely spaced, and the event is supported by many volunteers.

Funds raised from the event support the Mohonk Preserve's programs, which include conservation science, land stewardship, community education, and visitor experience management across more than 8,200 acres of protected land. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
