Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run (SRT)

Kingston, United States • 12 Sep 2026

Event overview

The Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run is a trail event in and around Rosendale, New York. It uses the Shawangunk Ridge Trail, a 70-mile route that runs from High Point State Park in New Jersey to the Rosendale area, ending just beyond a restored railroad trestle about 140 feet above the Rondout Creek. The ridgeline passes through rolling hills, wetlands, dwarf pine barrens, sky lakes, waterfalls, and white conglomerate cliffs uplifted almost three hundred million years ago. Vantage points on the ridge reach roughly 2,000 feet above the Hudson Valley and can offer views that cover five states.

Course and logistics

The course follows a well blazed but rugged hiking trail with rocky sections, difficult footing, squeezes, and scrambles. The event is described as unsupported, so participants must carry their own food and water purification. There are multiple checkpoints along the route and an interactive course map is available. Start locations include High Point State Park, Sam's Point Preserve, and the Peter’s Kill area in Minnewaska State Park. Event parking is provided in Rosendale only; parking at Sam’s Point or Minnewaska is not allowed.

Rules and services

No pacers, support crew, drop bags, or resupply caches are permitted. Registered participants receive SRT tech t-shirts, unique finisher medals, a special barefoot badge option, 70-mile completion certificates, and ceremonial tomahawks for division winners. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. The event is managed by Run Wild, Inc., a nonprofit supporting land conservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley.
