Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run
The Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run is a trail running event based in Rosendale, NY, staged along the Shawangunk Ridge Trail. The SRT follows the 70-mile ridgeline that runs from High Point State Park in New Jersey to the trail terminus near Rosendale, New York. The route passes wetlands, dwarf pine barrens, sky lakes, waterfalls, rocky sections, squeezes, and white conglomerate cliffs that form the distinctive Gunks ridgeline.
The event offers three distance divisions:
- 70 Miler
- 30 Miler
- Half Marathon
The course is minimally supported and uses multiple checkpoints for safety. Participants must carry their own food and water treatment, as there is no on-course resupply. No pacers, no support crews, no drop bags, and no resupply caches are permitted. Runners should follow trail blazes; supplemental markings are not provided.
Event parking is located in Rosendale only. Shuttle buses serve the various start locations for participants who are not dropped off. Parking at Sam's Point or Minnewaska State Park Preserve is prohibited and may result in tickets or fines.
Registered participants receive event tech t-shirts and unique finishers medals; additional items include a barefoot badge, completion certificates for 70-mile finishers, and ceremonial awards for division winners. The event is managed by Run Wild, Inc., and supports trail stewardship and local volunteer search and rescue organizations through optional donations.
