Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run (SRT) : Rosendale, NY

The Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run is built around the Shawangunk Ridge Trail, a 70 mile trail that runs from High Point State Park in New Jersey to Rosendale, New York, ending just beyond a restored railroad trestle above the Rondout Creek. The event is offered in three divisions:

  • 70 Miler
  • 30 Miler
  • Half Marathon

Routes traverse rolling hills, wetlands, dwarf pine barrens, sky lakes, waterfalls, and the white conglomerate cliffs of the Shawangunk mountains. Vantage points sit roughly 2,000 feet above the Hudson Valley and can provide multi state views on clear days. Organizers describe the ridgeline as a region of notable scenic and ecological value.

The event is minimalist and unsupported. Participants must carry their own food and water purification and may not use pacers, support crews, drop bags, or resupply caches. The marked trail will have no supplemental race markings; participants are expected to follow blazes and the recommended trail maps or apps. Some sections feature rocky footing, squeezes, or scrambles.

Parking is provided in Rosendale and shuttle buses serve the various start areas; parking at Sam’s Point or Minnewaska State Park Preserve is prohibited and may result in a ticket. Registered entrants receive event tech shirts, finishers medals, a special barefoot badge option, and other commemorative items. The event is managed by Run Wild, Inc., a nonprofit focused on land conservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
