Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run (SRT)

The Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run is a multi-division trail event centered in Rosendale, New York, using the Shawangunk Ridge Trail that runs from High Point State Park in New Jersey to the trail end near a restored railroad trestle above the Rondout Creek. The course travels varied terrain including rolling hills, wetlands, dwarf pine barrens, sky lakes, waterfalls, and white conglomerate cliffs formed nearly three hundred million years ago. Vantage points on the ridge rise to about 2,000 feet above the Hudson Valley and provide long-distance views on clear days.

The event offers three divisions:

  • 70 mile division for experienced trail runners only
  • 30 mile division suitable for fast hikers and runners
  • Half marathon division suitable for fast hikers and runners

The route is unsupported and uses trail blazes only. Participants must carry their own food and water purification, navigate by blazes or downloaded trail maps, and expect rocky, uneven sections with squeezes or scrambles. No pacers, support crew, drop bags, or resupply caches are allowed. Multiple checkpoints enforce time cutoffs during the event. Event parking is in Rosendale and shuttle transport is used to reach the various start locations; parking at Sam’s Point and Minnewaska preserves is prohibited.

All registrants receive SRT tech t shirts subject to availability, unique finisher medals, and other event recognitions. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers. The event is managed by a nonprofit that accepts optional donations to local trail and search and rescue organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
