The event is situated on Gunston Cove, adjacent to the Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge and Gunston Hall. The course features views of the water and passes through areas where bald eagles are frequently sighted.

Participants can choose between two race distances:

  • 5.9 miles (1 lap)

Portajons and bathrooms are located at the start and finish area, but no facilities are available on the course itself.

The event includes a free race for children aged 2-11, which consists of short out-and-back runs divided by age group. A supervised childcare program with nature exploration and STEM activities is also available for a fee.

Registration includes a race t-shirt or running socks, professional timing, and post-race food such as breakfast burritos. Finisher medals are available as an optional add-on. The race rules prohibit the use of in-ear headphones, pets, pacers, and baby strollers on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
