Whitewater Trail Challenge
The Whitewater Trail Challenge takes place on June 20, 2026, at Rice Lake Nature Trail near Whitewater, Wisconsin. The course uses a small section of the Ice Age Trail, a 1,200 mile footpath that crosses Wisconsin and is one of eleven National Scenic Trails. The race route is an out and back from Rice Lake and highlights terrain shaped by past glacial activity.
Trail surfaces vary across the Ice Age Trail corridor. Segments range from smooth and well maintained to extremely technical, and the patchwork of connected segments means footing can change quickly. The event presents a condensed, scenic sample of what the longer trail offers.
Distances offered at the event include:
- Trail 50K
- Trail Half Marathon
- Trail 10K
The event is organized by Spartan Trail. Event materials referenced by the organizer include race day documents, volunteer information, and lodging suggestions. The organizer also notes discounts for eligible U.S. service members and first responders. Photographic and participant materials were mentioned in attendee feedback.
