Iconic Trail Running at Vasquez Rocks
The SPACEROCK Trail Race takes place in the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park in Agua Dulce, California. This location is recognized for its unique rock formations and canyons, which have served as filming locations for various television shows and films. The event offers four distinct race distances:
- Half Marathon+ (approximately 14 miles with over 3,200 feet of elevation gain)
- 15K
- 10K
- 5K
The 5K and 10K courses consist of loops within the park featuring single-track trails and moderate climbing. The 15K route includes more technical sections on the Pacific Crest Trail and a passage through a 500-foot tunnel. The Half Marathon+ is the most demanding option, often categorized as an "Ultra Half" due to its significant elevation changes and total distance.
This event is a cupless race to promote sustainability. Participants must carry their own hydration systems, such as collapsible cups, bottles, or packs, to use at the aid stations. There are five aid stations across the courses providing water and electrolyte drinks. Registered participants receive a finisher medal, a race shirt, a collectible bag, and a finisher certificate. Returning runners are eligible for a legacy gift.
The terrain varies throughout the courses, including packed dirt, sandy creek beds, and rocky sections. Check-in is available on the Friday afternoon before the race or on Saturday morning at the staging area inside the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
