Irwin, United States • 7 Feb 2026

Event overview

Soup-In-The-Snow is an annual winter group run on Saturday, February 7, 2026, held near Irwin, Idaho at the Palisades Creek Trailhead, past Swan Valley in southeast Idaho. The event is presented by the Idaho Falls Trail Runners nonprofit and marks the 11th running since 2016. Entry is free but participants must register on Ultrasignup. There are no prizes, no event tee-shirts, and no guaranteed aid stations.

Course and logistics

The out-and-back course runs to Lower Palisades Lake and back, about 4.3 miles each way (approximately 8.6 miles total) and includes roughly 1,000 feet of snowy elevation gain. Trails are winter conditions; moose may be present. After the run there is a potluck lunch. Participants are asked to bring a soup, bread, dessert, or side to share and to sign up for food items when registering. Generators will be available to warm crock pots.

Trailhead parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Participants must bring their own utensils (bowl, mug, spoon), and are advised to bring camp chairs. An outhouse may be available at the trailhead but not near the parking lot; participants should bring toilet paper. Registration and other event updates are managed through the organizer’s Ultrasignup listing and the Idaho Falls Trail Runners Facebook group.
