Soapstone Mountain Trail Races

The Soapstone Mountain Trail Races are hosted at Reddington Rock Riding Club, 93 Handel Road, Stafford Springs, Connecticut. The 2026 event debuts a new Soapstone Mountain Half Marathon and continues the Jerry Stage 6K Sampler. The event is part of the 2026 Blue Blazed Trail Running Series in Connecticut.

Distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • Jerry Stage 6K Sampler

The Half Marathon course begins at RRRC, follows dirt roads and single track to join the blue blazed Shenipsit Trail, crosses Gulf Road for an out-and-back to Hopkins Road, then climbs over Soapstone Mountain past the fire tower. Runners encounter an aid station at Parker Road and a second aid station at Hopkins Road, then retrace the route, pass the tower a second time, cross Gulf Road, and finish back at RRRC. There are three aid stations on the half marathon; aid stations are stocked with trail running snacks.

The 6K begins at RRRC, uses a short single track section before Sodom Road, winds through forest along the White Blaze, follows the Shenipsit blue blazed trail for about a mile, and returns to RRRC via a short dirt road and a final turn into the woods. Walkers and hikers are welcome in the 6K. No aid is provided on the 6K, and the event is cupless so participants should carry their own water container.

The Shenipsit Striders organize the races as a nonprofit; proceeds benefit Connecticut trail stewardship organizations including the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, Joshua's Trust, and Northern Connecticut Land Trust. Registration closes May 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
