Smith's Knob Scramble
Smith's Knob Scramble is a trail race held in Montoursville, PA, centered on the Loyalsock Trail and the steep Smith's Knob. The full Scramble follows the Loyalsock Trail over Smith's Knob. The event is part of the Rocksylvania series in the Slate Division; the shorter Half Scramble is not part of the series.
Available distances:
- 8 mile full Scramble following the Loyalsock Trail
- 4.5 mile Half Scramble loop does not reach the Smith's Knob vista
Awards are given to overall male and female winners, first place male and female in 14 and under, 15-19, and then in 10-year age groups up to 60 and over. Parking is limited and the field is capped at 200 participants; carpooling is encouraged.
Proceeds are split between the Hughesville Cross Country program and the Think Big pediatric cancer fund. A specified donation of $500 is allocated to a Cross Country Award, split as scholarships for a graduating senior male and a graduating senior female, each receiving $250. The Half Scramble route reuses the opening and closing portions of the full course and includes singletrack and logging roads. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
