Smith's Knob Scramble
Smith's Knob Scramble is one of the Rocksylvania races in the Slate Division, held near Montoursville, Pennsylvania at 3026 Sand Spring Rd. The event offers two trail distances:
- 8 miles
- 4.5 miles Half Scramble
The full Scramble is an 8 mile trail race that follows the Loyalsock Trail over the steep Smith's Knob. The course uses single track sections and natural trail terrain.
New for 2024, the 4.5 mile Half Scramble is a loop that does not reach the Smith's Knob vista. It includes a mix of single track and logging roads and covers the beginning and ending portions of the full Scramble. The Half Scramble is not part of the Rocksylvania series.
Awards are planned for overall male and female winners, first place male and female 14 and under, 15-19, and then in 10 year age groups up to 60+. Due to limited parking the field is capped at 200 participants and carpooling is encouraged.
Proceeds are split between the Hughesville Cross Country program and Think Big. A Cross Country Award of 500 dollars is donated to the XC team as scholarships of 250 dollars each for a senior male and a senior female; remaining proceeds go to the Think Big pediatric cancer fund.
Registration closes Sat, May 30 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
