Small Town Christmas 34 Hour

Small Town Christmas 34 Hour is an ultrarunning event in Valley, Alabama, staged on a two mile loop along the banks of the Chattahoochee River near Shawmut Airport. The format is a timed 34 hour run where participants complete repeated laps of the same short course.

The event is linked to a local holiday tradition: a carousel set up each year for children at no charge. That tradition began as an outreach by local textile mills and continued after the mills closed. The carousel is maintained largely through donations from local businesses and municipal support. The event serves as an aid to help sustain that community tradition.

Past editions recorded multiple one hundred mile finishes and several distance personal records. The event also recorded a world record tying mark of fifty one hundred mile finishes in a year. Organizers report growing participation across early editions and continued interest in running long distances on the same loop.

Awards and registration notes: registered entrants receive an event t shirt if they register by the t shirt deadline of 11/25/2026. Each finisher receives a unique finisher award, and runners who reach one hundred miles receive a custom MuddyCrudd belt buckle. Registration closes on December 4, 2026.
