Slieve Donard

The Slieve Donard Race is a challenging 10km mountain running event held at Donard Forest Park, County Down. Featuring an 850m climb, the race demands strong fitness and navigational skills, especially in poor weather. Starting at Newcastle Centre and finishing on the pitches in Donard Park, the course includes unmarked forest sections requiring route choice and careful navigation.

Mandatory safety equipment includes waterproof full-body cover, compass, whistle, hat, gloves, and more, with kit checks enforced. Cut-off times ensure safety, with a 60-minute limit to the Saddle checkpoint. The race is organized by Newcastle AC and is part of the Irish Mountain Running Association calendar.
