Loughshannagh Horseshoe
The Loughshannagh Horseshoe is a mountain running event held in County Down as part of the Hill and Dales League. This race is organized by Newcastle AC and follows a route through mountain terrain. Only major junctions on the course are marked, and the use of GPS devices for navigation is not permitted during the event.
The race follows a single distance:
- 6.90 km route with 560 m of climbing.
Participants are required to carry Level B mandatory safety kit due to the nature of the terrain and environment. This kit consists of a waterproof jacket, a hat or buff, gloves, and a whistle. Additionally, runners must carry a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, as well as a foil blanket, bivvy bag, or an equivalent emergency shelter.
