Sea2Sky

Sea2Sky is a multi-terrain event held at Donard Park, Newcastle, Co. Down BT33 0SE. The event offers the following distances:

  • 10K race and 10K walk
  • 5K race

Both races start on Newcastle promenade, with the 5K starting in Donard Forest. The route includes road and track sections, forest trails that climb gradually to the 5K mark, and an open-mountain section around the 6K area accessed with landowner permission. After the high ground the course descends back to finish on the promenade. Distances are approximate and may vary slightly because of off-road sections.

Entries are by online registration only and race packs are posted to participants. Entry fees include a finishers medal, individual chip timing for the 5K and 10K races, a race number, and a complimentary post-race BBQ. A single water station is located at about 5K on the 10K route and there is a water point at the start of the 5K route.

Practical information includes free parking at Donard Car Park and several nearby car parks, toilet and shower facilities at the council pavilion and other nearby locations, and port-a-loos near registration. The course is not suitable for buggies and pets are not permitted. Prizegiving will recognise the first three male and female finishers in both 5K and 10K. Runners are advised that some field sections can be muddy and that running shoes are suitable while some may prefer trail shoes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
