Sea2Sky

The Sea2Sky event takes place in Newcastle, County Down, featuring a course that transitions from the coastline into the forest terrain of the Mourne Mountains. The event includes the following distances:

  • 10 km Race
  • 10 km Walk
  • 5 km Race

The 10 km route begins on the promenade in Newcastle, utilizing a combination of road and track. The course moves off-road onto trails that climb gradually into the foothills of the Mournes. At the midway point, participants reach a section with views overlooking the town and surrounding areas before descending back to the finish line on the promenade. The 5 km race starts within Donard Forest and follows a similar path toward the coastal finish line.

Participants run on various surfaces, including roads, forest paths, and a field section that can be muddy. Regular running shoes are appropriate, though trail shoes are an option for the off-road segments. The event is untimed for walkers, while runners receive individual chip timing. A water station is located at the 5 km mark of the longer route. Post-race amenities include a complimentary BBQ for participants at a nearby venue. Parking is available at Donard Car Park and other locations along the promenade. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
