Event Details

The Millstone is a mountain running event. It takes place in County Down on Thursday, 4th June, 2026. It is organized by Newcastle AC as part of the Hill & Dales League.

Course Information

The course is 7.70 km long with a total climb of 470 meters. The race difficulty is rated as easy terrain. The race marking policy is that only major junctions are marked. The use of GPS devices is not allowed.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring a specified list of equipment, known as Level B - Standard Mandatory Kit. This includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or equivalent. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be confirmed on the event day based on conditions. Runners must have the means to carry all required items. Random checks may be conducted, and failure to have the required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification.

Participation and Volunteering

The event is part of a league. Entries for league events typically open a couple of weeks before the event. Volunteers are needed, both non-running and potentially running. Non-running volunteer roles contribute towards qualifying for an end-of-year prize, requiring two such roles in a calendar year. Participants are encouraged to volunteer at least once for every ten events they run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
