Sithee at Slawit Again

The event is based in the village of Slaithwaite with registration, toilets and bag drop at Slaithwaite Community Centre on Bank Gate. The course follows a stretch of the Huddersfield narrow gauge canal, described as undulating and containing many locks. The route runs out to Tunnel End, which includes a 3.5 mile tunnel under the Pennines; boat trips and kayaking operate on certain days.

There are four distance options:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon

Races are licensed by the Trail Running Association and the event uses a 6.5 hour cut-off. Feed stations are placed at roughly three-mile intervals offering drinks and food; the event aims to be cup-less so participants are advised to use a reusable cup or bottle. Marshals are positioned on the course to provide direction and assistance, and there may be unmarshalled road crossings. The organiser requests that large over-ear headphones are not worn; bone-conducting devices or one-in-one-out in-ear use are acceptable if earphones are needed. Transfers can be self-served within 48 hours, and participants who retire should notify the nearest marshal.

At the finish participants receive a bespoke medal, drinks and edible refreshments. Parking is limited at the canal; additional parking is available in town carparks and side streets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
