9th Annual Community Ski Race in the Methow Valley

The Ski to the Sun event is a community Nordic ski race hosted by Methow Trails and the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation. The course utilizes North America's largest ski trail network, taking participants from the banks of the Methow River to the vistas at Sun Mountain Lodge. The event features a climb toward the finish line and provides a festive atmosphere for attendees.

Available distances and categories include:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • Relay

Registration typically opens in September and includes a race bib, a custom event hat, a post-race lunch, and one beverage for participants over 21. Raffle prizes and awards are also part of the event festivities. There is no registration available on the day of the event, as the race often reaches its capacity in advance.

Relay teams are managed by a team captain who handles the registration fee for the entire group. The event is a nonprofit initiative, with proceeds supporting year-round trail operations and Nordic ski programming in the Methow Valley. Para Nordic categories have also been included in previous editions of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
