Ski to the Sun

Ski to the Sun is an annual cross-country ski event organized by Methow Trails and the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation. The course passes through North America’s largest ski trail network and follows terrain from the banks of the Methow River to vistas near Sun Mountain Lodge. The event offers three race formats:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • Relay

Registration opens in September 2026. Entry includes a race bib, a custom Ski to the Sun hat, post-race lunch, one complimentary beer for participants 21 and older, raffle prizes, and awards. There is no day-of registration. Team captains pay the full relay fee at registration; teams cannot add members after the event sells out but may complete member details later through their registration account. Youth entries for those 17 and under have a discounted rate of $40 when available; youth discounts may reach capacity.

Refunds and transfers are subject to the event’s policies. Participants are advised to consider registration insurance. After registration deadlines, refunds, exchanges, transfers, or rollovers may not be available. The event supports year-round trail operations and Nordic ski programming in the Methow Valley. The organizers note the event may be canceled or altered for severe weather, fire, unhealthy air quality, road closures, natural disasters, or other unforeseeable circumstances. A course map is provided by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
