SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trig Ultra takes place on 18 April 2026, starting and finishing in Goathland in the North York Moors National Park. The event is open to solo participants or pairs and is limited to a maximum of 65 participants. Entry fees are £30 for solos and £60 per pair. Entries open 22 April 2025 and close 16 April 2026.

Course and navigation

The route is approximately 37 miles and visits five listed Triangulation Pillars. Participants must navigate using public rights of way and visit checkpoints in the order given prior to the event. Checkpoint and pillar locations will be provided before the event; a suggested route GPX and a map will also be made available. One checkpoint location will be revealed only once on the course and will contain an item that must be carried back to the finish. Three checkpoints will provide snacks and drinks. The organiser notes varied terrain and hills across the chosen routes.

Rules, kit and finish

Participants must be self-supported; no support crews or support runners/walkers are allowed. Runners and walkers have a 15-hour time limit to complete the course. All participants must carry mandatory kit including a map covering the North York Moors, working compass, head-torch with spare, emergency bivvy bag, waterproofs, spare warm clothing, charged mobile phone and power pack, at least 500 ml of water, 60 g of emergency food, and a cup. Finishers receive a certificate, a memento and a cloth badge; a hot meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options is provided at the end.
