Silver Moon Race: Kings River
The Silver Moon Race is an overnight lap event held at Reedley College in Reedley, California, timed on the weekend closest to the full moon. The race uses a scenic 2.5 mile loop that is described as fast and flat and runs through orchards, vineyards, oak canopies, and along the Kings River.
Race categories include short distances, timed-hour categories, and an extended 100 mile option. The format supports solo runners and 2, 3, or 4-person relay teams. The event operates as a fully supported lap race with a central checkpoint on every circuit.
Per-race support features chip timing, a stocked aid station with hot and cold options, rotating salty and sweet snacks, farm-fresh fruit, and frozen items during the day. Volunteers staff the course and an aid station that remains active through the overnight period. Finishers receive official items such as a finisher medal, a certificate, and an official race shirt; 100 mile finishers receive a buckle and top finishers receive trophies.
Camping is available on course to provide crew access, gear storage, rest space, and a shared base for participants on multi-hour categories. Sunday brunch is provided for long-distance runners. The event includes free race photos. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
