Event Format

The Tanri Lake Race offers several race formats. The Relay Race is a team event for teams of three runners. Each runner must complete four loops of a 5-mile course, with each loop run in the same order. The race runs from morning until evening on race day, with a cutoff time in the afternoon for starting the final loop.

The Individual Race is a 10-hour endurance event where participants aim to complete as many laps as possible. Each lap is also 5 miles long. Participation in this race qualifies entrants for a raffle to the Western States Endurance Run, with ticket multipliers for consecutive years of participation.

A standalone 10K race is also offered, consisting of one 6.2-mile loop around the lake.

Location & Course

The event takes place at Tanri Lake near Miramonte, California. The course is situated at an elevation of approximately 6,000 feet.

Prizes & Inclusions

Cash prizes are awarded for the top three finishers in each competitive division. The prize structure is as follows:

  • Relay Race: $600 for 1st, $450 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd.
  • Individual Race: $200 for 1st, $150 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd.
  • 10K: $150 for 1st, $100 for 2nd, $75 for 3rd.

Trail runs nearby

Chase the legend through the scenic Dry Creek Preserve. This unique 5k trail run features river crossings and a playful Sasquatch theme. Part of the proceeds support the local nature preserve.

The Kaweah Lake Bottom Trail Run offers a 5K and 10K race along the scenic lake bed trail. All proceeds support St. Anthony Retreat. Registration is limited and opens in May 2026.
