The Tanri Lake Race takes place in Miramonte, CA, at a course elevation of approximately 6,000 feet. Registration opens on January 8, 2026. The event offers multiple entry options: a relay, an individual timed race, a 10K, and a visitor day pass. Registration for several race options includes a Tanri hat and a pre-race dinner on August 28th.

Race formats and prizes

Relay race

  • Teams of three runners.
  • Each loop is 5 miles; each runner completes four loops in the same running order. Any deviation from the order results in disqualification.
  • When a runner finishes a loop, the next runner may begin their loop from behind the start line.
  • No separate Men's or Women's division.
  • Prize purse: 1st place $600, 2nd place $450, 3rd place $300.

Individual race

  • A 10-hour individual event where runners complete as many 5-mile laps as possible.
  • Only individual entrants are eligible for the Wester States raffle.
  • To qualify for the Wester States raffle, runners must complete at least eight laps.
  • Raffle ticket allocation doubles for consecutive participation years, up to three years: 1 ticket (year 1), 2 tickets (year 2), 4 tickets (year 3).
  • Men's and Women's divisions; prizes: 1st place $200, 2nd place $150, 3rd place $100.
