Shropshire Hills 50 Ultra Challenge

The event takes place on 18 September 2027 in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with basecamp at the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. The main route is a 55 km loop that heads southwest on trails to Knighton at the Welsh border, passes through the village of Leintwardine, and approaches the finish with views of Stokesay Castle. The route includes about 1350 metres of climb. There are shorter options on the same weekend.

The route is fully signed and supported with GPS tracking via the event app. Rest stops appear approximately every 12.5 km with major stops about every 25 km. Catering is provided at rest stops, including snacks, drinks, a picnic at 25 km for 50 km participants, and a finishers hot meal option for some entries. Medical cover includes doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists, and massage teams, plus mobile emergency medical support coordinated through a control room. A timing system scans participants at rest stops to log progress.

July the Turd is a run offering 8 miles, 16 miles and a full marathon around the Ironbridge valley. The route mixes tracks, paths and road and the event finishes at The Unicorn Inn with parking on site and finisher bling.

A 10 km multiterrain race around Dorstone with steep offroad sections and country lanes. A 4 km fun run and a walkers option that welcomes dogs are also offered with day entry fees.

A 6.7 km fell race around the Stiperstones from Snailbeach with 375 m of ascent, steady climbs and mixed descents. Entries are available by pre-entry or on the evening and proceeds support local charities and Natural England.

A single-lap 10 km off-road race at Wyre Forest, based at Callow Hill Visitor Centre. Canicross is permitted, entry is £10 in advance or £15 cash on the night, places are limited and basic facilities are provided.
