The event takes place on Sunday 9 November 2025 at Shaw Forest Park, West Swindon (Grid Reference SU 119860, postcode SN5 5PQ). Access is by kind permission of Swindon Borough Council and the park is signposted on B4534 Mead Way. Assembly is adjacent to the main car park off Mead Way, which has a 1.8 m height restriction barrier; limited road parking is available outside the barrier. The terrain is a mix of forested and open areas with small hills, ventilation chimneys from a former waste disposal site, wet or muddy patches, and some dense brambles. A fenced reed bed with deep water is strictly out of bounds.

Courses, entry and safety

Courses and approximate lengths:

  • Blue: 6.0 km, 150 m climb - experienced orienteers only
  • Green: 4.0 km, 100 m climb - experienced orienteers only
  • Orange: 2.3 km, 50 m climb - suitable for all orienteers
  • Yellow: 2.2 km, 30 m climb - suitable for beginners

Online entry only. Standard entry closes at 23:59 on 02-11-2025; entries can be amended until 23:59 on 06-11-2025 if maps remain. Late entries are available while map stocks last until 06-11-2025 with an additional fee; there will be no entry on the day. Typical fees (from 11 Oct): senior £10, senior novice £5, junior/student £2; late senior £12, late junior £4; non-BOF supplement £1; chip hire £2. Group entry option available for Orange/Yellow courses (single fee; two maps provided).

Timing uses SportIdent (SI); controls will be SIAC enabled where compatible. Hire dibbers will be non-SIAC. No toilet facilities; first aid kit available. Full leg cover and whistles are mandatory.
