Selworthy Beacon Fell Race

Allerford, United Kingdom • 19 Jul 2026

Selworthy Beacon Fell Race : 19 July 2026

The event is a traditional fell race of approximately 4 miles with about 1000 ft of ascent and descent to and from Selworthy Beacon. The route is entirely off-road, mostly on the open moorland of Exmoor, and runs from Bossington National Trust car park through Hurlstone Combe up to the Trig Point at Selworthy Beacon and back.

There are compulsory checkpoints at the bottom of Hurlstone Combe, at the Trig Point on Selworthy Beacon, and again at the bottom of Hurlstone Combe. Course marking is minimal and self-navigation is required; marshals are placed at the bottom of Hurlstone Combe and at Selworthy Beacon. Competitors should carry a map and compass if not familiar with the route and follow the Fell Runners Association kit guidance, which is weather dependent and will be confirmed at registration.

Race headquarters and parking are at the Bossington National Trust car park, with additional parking around Selworthy Beacon and in Porlock. The start and finish are on the public footpath across the bridge near the car park. Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female and to age-category winners. No mementoes are provided, and entry fees are set at £12 for Fell Runners Association members and £14 for non-members. The race is held under the rules of the Fell Runners Association and is race classification BS. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
