The Secret Santa Series is a trail event in the Brecon Beacons National Park based at Cwmdu Hall, Powys. Distances offered include:
- 14 km (Figgy Pud)
- 10 mile (Turkey Ten Mile)
- Half marathon (Du Mulled Wine)
All routes start and finish at Cwmdu Hall. Routes follow the Beacons Way and split on Mynydd Llangors. The half marathon follows trails on Cockit Hill, with lake and central Beacons views, climbs toward Cefn Moel, then returns to the finish. Reported elevation gains are approximately 14 km = 2,186 ft, 10 mile = 2,352 ft, half marathon = 4,013 ft. The event uses fully marked routes and back-runner support. An 8 hour cut-off applies to the distances.
Facilities and requirements
Checkpoints are stocked with food and drink options including fruit, sweets, biscuits, crisps, electrolytes, coke, squash, water and some cake; vegan options are provided. A full mobile medical unit and support runners operate on course. Canicross runners are permitted; dogs must be kept on leads. There is basic camping near HQ with toilets, parking (fee applies), online results, a photo gallery, bespoke medals, and hand crafted Welsh slate trophies for top finishers. Participants are asked to bring a wrapped Secret Santa gift (approx £5) and an unwrapped gift for ages 0-18 to support local families. Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, capacity to carry 1 litre fluid, food, phone, hat and gloves, appropriate trail footwear, first aid items, foil blanket and whistle.
