Scout Mountain Ultras

The Scout Mountain Ultras provide a variety of trail running distances located in Pocatello, Idaho. The event focuses on technical terrain and environmental awareness, emphasizing the reduction of waste and the support of conservation efforts through race proceeds. The courses navigate through areas featuring pines, aspens, and wildflowers, with the potential for snowy and muddy conditions depending on the season.

Participants can choose from four distinct distances:

  • 100 Miles: A full tour of the Scout Mountain area with approximately 23,800 ft of vertical gain and loss.
  • 50 Miles: Actually measuring 53.8 miles, this route includes over 10,900 ft of elevation change and utilizes key sections of the 100-mile course.
  • 50K: A mountain ultra featuring 7,400 ft of ascent and descent, covering Gibson Jack, West Fork, and Scout Mountain.
  • 23 Miles: A single loop that summits Scout Mountain, involving over 5,400 ft of gain and loss on single-track trails.

The event maintains a specific registration policy where fifty percent of the field for each distance is reserved for women, femme, and non-binary participants. The routes are designed to utilize the natural landscape, often featuring high-altitude sections that may remain snow-covered during the event.
