Scilly110
Scilly110 is a 110 km ultra marathon across the five inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly. Entry is restricted to runners who have previously finished Scilly60 or who can demonstrate substantial trail running experience. The event uses organised boat transfers between islands and professionally marked routes.
The course structure requires a complete circumnavigation of each island, then a second loop of the same island in the opposite direction. The event begins and ends on St Marys and includes complete circuits of St Marys, St Martins, Tresco, Bryher, and St Agnes. Runners on a second loop must give way to those on their first loop.
Cut off times are enforced on a pace basis of 7 minutes 30 seconds per kilometre. Runners who fall significantly behind schedule may be advised to stop and a cut off applies on the final stage. Pacers and a sweeper will support the final stage.
This is a self sufficient race with no energy stations en route. Competitors must start with at least 3 litres of water. The course is heavily marked with more than 2000 flags and has reflective poles for the last 10 km; a head torch is recommended for the first and last stages. Terrain is varied coastal trail with changing elevation and tidal logistics. Entry is strictly limited to 75 runners and each competitor is allocated one free spectator boat.
