Sawmill Ultra
Sawmill Ultra is a looped trail race held in Lee Canyon on Mt. Charleston inside the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest near the Sawmill trailhead. The event offers both solo and relay options on a course made of three loops that circle counterclockwise.
Distances offered include:
- 38.45 miles solo and team option
- 26.2 miles solo
- 19.23 miles solo
- 13.1 miles solo
- 10K solo
- 5K solo
The course is composed of three approximate loops: 5.64 miles, 8.2 miles, and 4.3 miles. Relay teams complete all loops with each team member running one loop and tagging the next runner. Completing the course twice yields the longer total distance noted above.
Onsite support includes hot coffee, chocolate, tea and hot food options such as casseroles, noodles, broth, burgers and vegetarian choices. Virtual entries may upload results and receive a mailed shirt and medal; registering two weeks before the event is recommended to guarantee a shirt. Cold canned beer will be available to participants over 21 with ID; nonrunners who wish to drink are asked to contribute to the beer fund.
The staging area serves as packet pickup. The Sawmill area elevation is around 7,500 feet and typical June temperatures are about 85°F daytime and 70°F nighttime. Wildlife sightings are possible. If the event is canceled or postponed, entries are transferable to another Triple Dare Running event and refunds are not issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
