Sawmill Ultra
The Sawmill Ultra is an endurance event located in Lee Canyon within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Mt. Charleston, Nevada. The race is staged at the Sawmill trailhead area, which sits at an elevation of approximately 7,500 feet. The course utilizes three distinct loops measuring approximately 5.64 miles, 8.2 miles, and 4.3 miles. All loops are run in a counter-clockwise direction.
Participants can choose from several solo distances and relay options:
- 38.45 miles (Solo and Three-Person Relay)
- 26.2 miles (Marathon)
- 19.23 miles (Solo and Three-Person Relay)
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 mile (Kids run)
The relay format requires teams of three to complete all loops. Each member selects a loop to run and tags the next runner upon completion. For the 38.45 mile relay, the team completes the course twice. Virtual participation versions are also available for most distances, where runners can upload their results to receive a medal and shirt by mail.
The event provides various amenities at the staging area, including hot beverages like coffee, tea, and cocoa. Food options include casseroles, noodles, broth, burgers, and hot dogs, with vegetarian choices available. Participants over the age of 21 may access beer with a valid ID.
