The Sawmill Ultra takes place in the Humbolt-Toiyabe National Forest at Lee Canyon, Mt. Charleston. The event offers solo and team relay options on a course made of three loops with approximate mileages of 5.64, 8.2, and 4.3 miles. Solo distance options include 38.45 miles, 26.2 miles, 19.23 miles, 13.1 miles, 10 km, and 5 km. Relay teams complete the three loops in sequence; one circuit totals 19.22 miles, or 38.45 miles when the course is run twice by a team.
Course, logistics and services
All loops are run counterclockwise in the order 5.64, 8.2, then 4.3 miles. The race is cup-less; participants should bring hydration packs to refill at aid stations. Marathoners and ultramarathoners will have gel electrolytes available and Gatorade will be served. Packet pickup is at the staging area 45–60 minutes before the race, and a bag drop area is provided. Food offerings include hot items, coffee, and vegetarian options; canned beer will be available to participants 21 and over. Virtual entrants may upload results and will receive a mailed medal and t-shirt if registered in time. Parking is at Sawmill Trailhead (do not park on the highway); directions from Las Vegas use Highway 95 to Lee Canyon Road. Elevation is around 7,500–7,600 feet. Awards are given male and female, places 1–3. If the event is canceled or postponed, entries are transferable to another Triple Dare event; no refunds are issued.
