Savannah Ultra Urban 50K Run

The Savannah Urban Ultra is a free, self supported 50K run through the city of Savannah, Georgia. The event is capped at 25 runners. Admission requires emailing a short answer to the question Why would you like to run a free 50k through Savannah, Georgia? The first twenty five emailed answers will be moved from the waitlist into registration. Organizers will publish selected answers on their blog. Registration closes Fri, Nov 20 at 11:59 PM ET.

The route begins and ends at the Waving Girl statue on Riverfront Savannah and is varied each year so participants experience different parts of the city. The event is organized as a self support run; participants should carry their own fluids, gels and supplies rather than rely solely on stores along the course. Some sections of the course pass through busy streets, so runners are asked to be attentive to traffic, use sidewalks when available, run against traffic where appropriate, and watch out for fellow pace group members. The run is commonly done in groups so participants can find and maintain a shared pace. Finishers receive a custom made tile art piece that features a memorable Savannah token. Participants are also invited to take and share photos from the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
