Savannah Ultra Urban 50k Run

The Savannah Urban Ultra 50k Fatass is a free, self supported 50 kilometer run through the city of Savannah, Georgia. Entry is limited to 25 runners; admission requires answering a question by email and the first twenty five emailed responses are registered. Selected answers may be posted on the RoughRunnersR4R.com blog.

The route begins and ends in front of the Waving Girl statue on Riverfront Savannah. The course is changed each year and so the exact route varies; some sections travel busy streets and sidewalks are used where available. Organizers emphasize attention to surroundings, running against traffic when applicable, and looking out for other runners. Participants commonly form pace groups and are encouraged to stay with a chosen group.

The event is self supported. The route passes grocery and convenience stores, but participants should plan to carry sufficient fluids, gels, and other fuel for the 50 kilometer distance. Each finisher receives a custom made tile featuring a Savannah token. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
