Savannah Sultry Swamp Run
The Savannah Sultry Swamp Run is a trail running event organized by Run 4 a Reason at the Savannah Ogeechee Canal, 681 Fort Argyle Rd, Savannah, GA 31419. The event offers multiple distances on a technical trail through a historic Georgia swamp.
The course mixes single track, narrow and sometimes slick boardwalks, sand, roots, palm sections, and a 5K loop. If it rains, portions of the trail can become muddy with standing water. All finishers receive a drinking glass to add to the Rough Runners collection.
Distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 20K
Event rules stress respect for the site and other users: be kind, leave no trace, and do not disturb wildlife. If a participant inadvertently cuts the course, they must return and complete the missed section before crossing the timing mat or they will be disqualified.
After the race there are awards and a postrace area that includes a waterslide provided by a local rental company and both adult and kid snow cones. The event notes that proceeds support the Savannah Ogeechee Canal museum and trail preservation. The Ogeechee Riverkeeper organization will be present to provide information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
