Savannah Sultry Swamp Run, July 24, 2027
The Savannah Sultry Swamp Run is a trail running event organized by Run 4 a Reason at the Savannah Ogeechee Canal, 681 Fort Argyle Rd, Savannah, GA 31419. The course uses a 5k loop and offers the following distances:
- 20K
- 10K
- 5K
The trail is described as technical through a historic Georgia swamp. Terrain includes single track, sand, roots, boardwalk sections and palm stands. Narrow and sometimes slick boardwalks are present. If it rains, participants can expect mud and possible standing water on parts of the course.
Event rules emphasize courtesy and environmental care: participants are asked to be kind, leave no trace, and not disturb wildlife. If a participant inadvertently cuts the course they must return and complete the missed section before crossing the timing mat or they may be disqualified.
All finishers receive a drinking glass that adds to the Rough Runners drinking glass collection. Post-race activities include awards, a waterslide provided by Richmond Hill Bounce and Slide, and adult and kid snow cones. The Ogeechee Riverkeeper will be present to share information about the local waterway. Proceeds support the Savannah Ogeechee Canal museum and trail preservation.
