The Snow Globe Gallop Bobble Hat Run - North

The event takes place on 13 December 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. It is organised by Saturn Running.

This is a 7 hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose their distance. The minimum distance is 3 km. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7 km) and may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3k and 5k turn points within the lap to accommodate UK Athletics age restrictions. Laps required: 3 for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon, 7 or more for an ultra. A 50 km distance is also available.

The course follows a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. The route is fully signed and held on public footpaths.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat. Distance pins are issued for half marathon distance and above. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Aid and drinks tables are located at the start and finish of each lap with snacks and vegan options. Headphones are allowed.

Venue facilities include toilets and changing. A bag drop is provided near the start and finish but is unstaffed and items are left at the participant's responsibility; the organiser accepts no liability for lost items. There is pay and display parking in the city centre and nearby streets; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Race day instructions are sent by email and race numbers are collected at on-site registration. Membership offers the lowest entry price, which is £10 lower than the full price, and guarantees entry; members also receive a mini-me medal pin at events they attend.
