Santa Run - North

Santa Run - North is a festive fun run at Durham Amateur Rowing Club beside the River Wear. The course is classified as a trail run and offers riverside views including the Cathedral. It is fully signed and does not require navigational experience.

Distances offered:

  • 2.5 km one lap
  • 5.0 km two laps

The event allows runners of every age to compete in line with UK Athletics distance limits and welcomes walkers. Every finisher who completes one 2.5 km lap receives a themed Christmas medal and a goody bag. There are festive elements such as Christmas music, fancy dress prizes, and mince pies.

An aid and drinks table is available at the start and finish of each lap with drinks and a selection of savoury and sweet snacks, including vegan options. Toilets and changing facilities are provided at the race headquarters. A bag drop is available near the start and finish but it is not staffed and items are left at the participant's responsibility.

Pay and display parking is available in the city centre and nearby streets; participants must not park in the rowing club car park. Final race instructions are sent by email before the event and race numbers are picked up on the day at registration. Headphones are allowed. The event is held on public footpaths and participants should be considerate of other path users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
