Remembrance Run 2026 - North East
This event in Durham starts and finishes at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club and follows a signed trail along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. It is classified as a trail run and does not require navigational experience. Walkers are permitted and participants of all abilities are welcome.
The event is a 6 hour and 32 minute Time Challenge that allows runners to choose their distance. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km, which forms part of a lap. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles or 7 km and may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The lap includes 3 km and 5 km turn points and lap counts correspond to common distances.

A two minute silence will be observed to remember those who gave their lives; two minutes will be deducted from participants' times for finish time calculation. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a Remembrance medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra achievements and are attached to the medal ribbon.
Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start and finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan options. Finishers receive a goody bag and a vegan goody bag option is available. Toilets, a bar and showers are located at the rowing club. Pay and display parking is available nearby; participants must not park in the rowing club car park. Number pick up is on the day at race registration and final race instructions are sent by email in the week before the event. A non-secure bag drop is available. Headphones are allowed. The event is held on public footpaths so participants should be considerate of other path users.
