Event overview
The Remembrance Run 2026 - North East is organised by Saturn Running at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham. The event is a themed Remembrance run held along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. It is run as a time challenge lasting 6 hours 32 minutes, and participants may choose how many laps to complete. A two-minute silence will take place during the event; two minutes will be deducted from recorded times. UK Athletics age restrictions apply. The £20 entry price is available only to members. Members are guaranteed entry and receive a mini-pin at each event.
Course and distances
The course is a fully signed trail route along the river; no navigational experience is required. Minimum distance and lap details:
- 3 km minimum distance (part of a lap)
- Full lap: 4.37 miles / 7 km (may change to a 3.28 mile loop)
- Half marathon: 3 laps
- Marathon: 6 laps
- Ultra: 7 or more laps; 50 km option available
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a Remembrance medal. Distance pins are available for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances; one pin is attached to the medal ribbon.
Facilities and services
Toilets, a bar and showers are available at the rowing club. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan option is offered. There is nearby pay-and-display parking and some on-street free parking. A non-secure bag drop is available. Headphones are allowed.
