The Remembrance Run 2026 - North East takes place on 08/11/2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham, DH1 3JU. The event is organised as a timed challenge with a total running window of 6 hours and 32 minutes. A two-minute silence will be observed during the event; two minutes will be deducted from participants' recorded time for this pause.

Course and distances

The course runs along a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. The route is fully signed. Key distance details:

  • Minimum 3 km (part of a lap)
  • Full lap 7 km / 4.37 miles (may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions)
  • 3 laps = half marathon, 6 laps = marathon, 7 or more laps = ultra
  • 50 km distance is available The lap includes 3 km and 5 km turn points to comply with UK Athletics age restrictions. Walkers are allowed and headphones are permitted.

Facilities, kit and services

Toilets, a bar and showers are available at the rowing club. There is a nearby pay-and-display car park and some free on-street parking in nearby streets. A bag drop will be provided at the start/finish area but it is not secure. Aid and drinks tables are positioned at the start/finish of each lap and include a variety of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items.

Finish and extras

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a Remembrance medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances and are attached to the medal ribbon.
