Remembrance Run 2026 - North East

This is a Remembrance run organised by Saturn Running at Durham Amateur Rowing Club. The event honours those who gave their lives and awards a themed Remembrance medal to anyone who completes at least 3 km.

The format is a 6 hour 32 minute time challenge that allows participants to choose how many laps to run. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles or 7 km but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The minimum distance is 3 km, and there are 3 km and 5 km turn points on the lap to meet UK Athletics age restrictions. Lap counts given are 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or more for an ultra. A 50 km option is also available.

The trail course follows a stretch of the River Wear and includes views of the Cathedral. It is fully signed and held on public footpaths; walkers are welcome. Headphones are allowed.

Facilities are based at Durham Amateur Rowing Club and include toilets, a bar and showers for runners to use. There is pay and display parking in the city centre and nearby streets; participants must not use the rowing club car park. Aid tables and a drinks table are provided at the start and finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan options. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option and distance pins for half marathon distance or more. A bag drop is available but is not secure. Number pick up is at race registration and final instructions are sent by email before the event. Members receive a lower entry price and a mini pin and are guaranteed entry.
