Scare Bear Run 2026 - North
Scare Bear Run 2026 - North is a trail running event at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU on 11 October 2026. The course follows a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is fully signed. Walkers are welcome.
The event is run as a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose how many laps to complete. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may change to a shorter loop depending on course conditions. Turn points at 3 km and 5 km are available within the lap to meet UK Athletics age rules.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a Scare Bear themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon distance and above and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available.
Facilities include toilets, changing, and a nearby bag drop that is unattended and left at the participant's risk. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start/finish of each lap with drinks and savoury and sweet snacks including vegan options. Pay and display parking is available in the city centre and nearby streets; parking at the rowing club is not permitted. Final race instructions are sent by email in the week before the event. Headphones are allowed. The route uses public footpaths; participants should be considerate of other path users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
