Event Format
This is a 7-hour time challenge event where participants choose their own distance. The minimum distance is 3 km. A full lap is 7 km (subject to change to a 3.28-mile loop). Participants can run as many or as few laps as they wish within the time limit, subject to UK Athletics age restrictions for each specific distance. Turn points are available within the lap for 3 km and 5 km distances to accommodate younger runners.
Course
The course follows a trail along the River Wear, offering views of Durham Cathedral. It is a signed route, requiring no navigation experience. The event takes place on public footpaths.
Distances
The event offers several distances, each with specific age requirements for entry:
- 3 km (no age restriction listed)
- 5 km (open to entrants aged 12 and over)
- 10 km (open to entrants aged 16 and over)
- Half Marathon (open to entrants aged 17 and over)
- Marathon (open to entrants aged 18 and over)
- 50 km (open to entrants aged 20 and over)
- Ultra Marathon (open to entrants aged 20 and over)
- Time Challenge (open to entrants aged 18 and over)
Participant Perks
All finishers completing at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins for the half marathon, marathon, 50 km, and ultra distances are available to add to the medal ribbon. All finishers also receive a goody bag, with a vegan option available upon request during registration.
Venue and Facilities
The event is based at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club in Durham. Toilets and changing facilities are available on site. There is an unstaffed bag drop area near the start and finish line. Parking is available nearby, with both free on-street and city centre pay-and-display options.
Additional Information
An aid station with drinks and snacks (including vegan options) is located at the start/finish area of each lap. Runners are allowed to use headphones.
