GNR & Time Turner 2026 - Durham

Saturn Running stages a Time Challenge event at Durham Amateur Rowing Club on 30 August 2026. The event takes place on a signed trail course along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral.

The format is a seven hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose how many laps to run. The minimum recorded distance is 3 km. The lap structure and turn points allow organisers to meet UK Athletics age rules.

  • 3 km minimum distance
  • Full lap is 7 km (4.37 miles); may change to a 3.28 mile loop
  • Half marathon equals 3 laps
  • Marathon equals 6 laps
  • Ultra equals 7 or more laps
  • 50 km distance available

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Runners who reach half marathon distance or further receive a distance pin on the medal ribbon (Half Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50 km and Ultra pins). All finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Aid and drinks tables with sweet and savoury options including vegan choices are provided at the start and finish of each lap.

Race HQ has toilets and changing facilities. A bag drop is available near the start and finish but is not staffed and items are left at the participant's risk. There is pay and display parking in the city centre and nearby streets; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Final race instructions are sent by email in the week before the event. Headphones are allowed. The course uses public footpaths so runners should be considerate of other path users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
