Saturn Running - GNR & Time Turner 2026 : Durham

Saturn Running stages a 7-hour Time Challenge on Sunday 30 August 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, along a signed trail loop beside the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules.

The format gives participants control over distance within the 7-hour window; the minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap measures 7 km (4.37 miles) but may use a shorter 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to allow younger runners to comply with UK Athletics age rules.

Distances available include:

  • 3 km minimum distance
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon and Ultra distances including 50 km

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon distance and above and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start/finish of each lap with sweet and savoury snacks and vegan options.

Facilities include toilets and changing rooms. A bag drop is available but is unstaffed and items are left at the participant's responsibility. Pay and display parking is available in the city centre; parking at the rowing club is restricted. Headphones are allowed and participants should be considerate of other public footpath users.
