The Smurf Run - Egham

The Smurf Run is organised by Saturn Running at Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club, Riverside, Egham. The event is a themed 7 hour Time Challenge on a signed loop along the River Thames. All abilities and walkers are welcome. Members pay £10 less than full price, are guaranteed entry and receive a mini-me medal pin at each event.

The event has a minimum distance of 3 km. A full lap is 4.37 miles (approximately 7 km) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to support younger runners and UK Athletics distance rules.

Distances offered:

  • 3 km
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km
  • Ultra Marathon
  • Time Challenge

The course is fully signed and is roughly 60% on a well-made path or tarmac, with the remainder on grass and light trail that can become muddy. Road shoes are suitable year round; trail shoes may give extra grip on off-path sections.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon distance and above and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start/finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items.

Facilities at race HQ include toilets and changing. A bag drop is provided but is not staffed and is left at the participant's responsibility. There is a pay on exit carpark at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Final race instructions are sent by email in the week before the event and number pick up is on the day at race registration. Headphones are allowed and the route uses public footpaths so other path users should be considered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
