Saturn Running : The Smurf Run, Egham

The Smurf Run is a 7 hour Time Challenge held at Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club, Riverside, Egham, TW20 0AE. Participants can choose how many laps to complete; the minimum recorded distance is 3 km.

Distances offered include:

• 5 km
• 10 km
• Half Marathon
• Marathon
• 50 km
• Ultra Marathon
• Time Challenge format

A full lap is described as 7 km (4.37 miles) with a possible change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The lap contains 3 km and 5 km turn points to accommodate age-related distance rules. It is three laps for a half marathon, six laps for a marathon, and seven or more laps for an ultra.

The course runs along a stretch of the River Thames and is fully signed. About 60% is on a well-made path or tarmac and the remainder is grass and light trail that can become muddy. Road shoes are suitable year round; trail shoes may help on the softer sections.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are available for half marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra achievements and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers receive a standard or vegan goody bag. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. A bag drop is provided but is unstaffed and left at the participant's risk.
