Saturn Running - The Smurf Run
Saturn Running stages a seven hour Time Challenge at Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club, Riverside, Egham TW20 0AE. The event uses a signed riverside loop alongside the River Thames with a mixture of surfaces: about 60% on well made path or tarmac and the remainder on grass and light trail that can become muddy. Road shoes are suitable year round; trail shoes may be preferred for extra grip on trail sections.
Entry pricing includes a lower member rate available only to members; the member price is £10 lower than full price. Members are guaranteed entry and receive a mini-me medal pin at each event.
Distance options and lap structure are flexible. The minimum recorded finishing distance is 3 km; a full lap is listed as 4.37 miles (7 km) but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Turn points at 3 km and 5 km are provided for younger competitors to meet UK Athletics distance rules. Lap counts given by the organiser: 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon, 7 or more for an ultra. A 50 km distance is also available.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half marathon and longer distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start and finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items. Toilets and changing facilities are available at race HQ. A bag drop is provided but is not staffed and items are left at the participant's responsibility. A large pay on exit carpark is at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Final race day instructions are sent by email in the week before the event and race numbers are collected on the day at registration. Headphones are allowed and runners are asked to be considerate of other public footpath users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
