Event Overview

The Scare Bear Run is an annual event with a spooky theme, held at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare. It is open to all abilities and welcomes walkers.

Distances

Participants can choose from several distances:

• 3km
• 5km
• 10km
• Half Marathon
• Marathon
• 50km
• Ultra Marathon
• Time Challenge (a 7-hour event with a minimum distance of 3km)

The Time Challenge is lap-based, with a full lap approximately 4.37 miles or 7km, subject to change based on course conditions. Age restrictions apply to some distances.

Course

The course follows well-maintained footpaths around Dare Valley Country Park, offering views of the surrounding countryside. It is suitable for road trainers.

Medals and Pins

All finishers who complete at least 3km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are available for those running a half-marathon or more, including Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50km, and Ultra pins.

Amenities

An aid table at the start and finish area provides drinks, savory and sweet snacks like crisps, fruit, and cookies, with vegan options. Ice cream is available for all finishers. Goody bags are provided, with standard and vegan versions.

Facilities

The venue has toilets and a cafe serving hot drinks and food. Free parking is available. There are no separate changing facilities or showers.

Logistics

Race numbers are picked up on the day at registration. Final instructions are sent via email before the event. A bag drop area is available but is not secure. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
