Saturn Running stages The Smurf Run at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules. It is organised and managed by Saturn Too Limited, a franchise partner of Saturn Running.

The event is a 7 hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose how many laps to complete. The minimum recognised distance for an official finisher is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be altered to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The course uses well maintained footpaths around the country park and offers views of the surrounding countryside.

Distances available include:

• 3 km minimum for official finisher status
• 5 km and 10 km options
• Half marathon requires three laps
• Marathon requires six laps
• 50 km and Ultra options

Finishers receive themed medals once they complete at least 3 km. Distance pins are provided for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra achievements. Finishers also receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag is available.

There is an aid table and drinks at the start/finish of each lap with savoury and sweet options and ice cream for finishers. Venue facilities include toilets, a cafe by race HQ, and free parking. A non-secure bag area is provided. Bone conducting headphones only are allowed and runners should be considerate of other path users. Members receive lower entry pricing and a guaranteed entry plus a mini-me medal pin; UK Athletics affiliated club members receive a £2 discount.
