The Dun Holm Challenge Day 1
The Dun Holm Challenge Day 1 takes place on 27 May 2027 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham. It is a seven hour time challenge licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Participants choose how far to run within the seven hours; the minimum distance for an official finish is 3 km. A full lap measures 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The lap includes 3 km and 5 km turn points to allow younger runners to comply with UK Athletics distance rules. Three laps equal a half marathon, six laps equal a marathon, seven laps or more count as an ultra and a 50 km option is available.

The course runs along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classed as a trail run. The route is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. An aid table and drinks table are available at the start and finish of each lap with drinks and snacks, including vegan options. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and distance pins are issued for half marathon and longer distances. Toilets and changing facilities are at the race headquarters. A bag drop is available but is not supervised and the organiser accepts no liability for lost items. Pay and display parking is available in the city centre; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2.00 discount on entry.
