SATURN - The Snow Globe Gallop Bobble Hat Run - North

The event takes place on Sunday 13 December 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. It is organised as a 7 hour Time Challenge on a fully signed trail course along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. The course is described as flat trail and does not require navigation experience.

Distances and lap structure:

  • Minimum distance 3 km.
  • Full lap 7 km (4.37 miles) with a possible alternative 3.28 mile loop.
  • 3 laps for a half marathon.
  • 6 laps for a marathon.
  • 7 or more laps for an ultra; 50 km option available.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. All finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start and finish of each lap with assorted drinks and snacks, including vegan options.

Facilities include toilets and changing at race HQ and an unstaffed bag drop; participants retain responsibility for their items. Nearby parking is on-street free or pay and display. Headphones are allowed. The event capacity is 300 and minimum age is 12. Entries close 12/12/2026. Runners over 45 km must be 20 or older; 18 and 19 year olds may run up to 45 km.
