SATURN - Scare Bear Run 2026 - North

An annual timed trail event held at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham. The event is presented as an inclusive, family‑friendly occasion; walkers are welcome and the minimum competing age is 12 years.

The format is a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose how far to run. The minimum distance is 3 km (part of a lap). A full lap is listed as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Turn points at 3 km and 5 km are provided to help younger runners meet UK Athletics distance rules.

The course runs along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. It is fully signed so no navigation experience is required. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start/finish of each lap with a variety of snacks and vegan options. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a goody bag; distance pins are issued for half‑marathon and longer achievements. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. A bag drop is available but unstaffed and left at the participant's responsibility. Headphones are permitted. Maximum entries 300. Transfers and deferrals are allowed for specified fees.
