SATURN Scare Bear Run 2026 - North

This is a 7 hour timed trail event held at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The course runs along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is fully signed so no navigation experience is required. The organiser may alter the exact loop after a health and safety review.

Participants who complete at least 3 km are classed as finishers and receive a themed medal. There is an aid and drinks table at the start and finish of each lap with savoury and sweet options and vegan choices. Toilets and changing facilities are available at race HQ and a bag area is provided but it is unsecured and left at the participant's own risk.

Distance options and notes:

  • 3 km minimum to be an official finisher
  • Full lap about 7 km or 4.37 miles, subject to change
  • Half marathon equals 3 laps; marathon equals 6 laps; ultra is 7 laps or more
  • 50 km distance option available

Additional details: distance pins are awarded for half-marathon and longer achievements; headphones are permitted; parking is available on nearby streets or in city centre pay and display areas. Entries are limited to 300 places, entries close 10/10/2026, and minimum age is 12 years. Runners over 45 km must meet specific age rules. Beyond Newcastle offers 55 km and 25 km trail runs from the Swing Bridge on Newcastle Quayside on 25 April 2026, with signed riverside routes, marshals, feed stations and live chip-timing.

A series of organised trail races by Trail Outlaws with distances from 5K to Half Marathon, fully marked and marshalled. Series entry offers a discount and a presentation evening; routes are noted as scenic and well signposted.

A hilly, traffic-free half marathon through Hamsterley Forest on 26 April 2026 with multi-terrain trails, mile markers, water stations and chip timing. Entries limited to 500; affiliated and unaffiliated fees apply.

A beginners fell race at Cockfield Fell on 28 April 2026, run as a social 3.5 km lap followed by a 3.5 km competitive lap for a 7 km off road route. Open to entrants aged 14 and over with entry fees for FRA members and non members.
