Saturn 7 Hour Time Challenge - Gilesgate

SATURN - Scare Bear Run 2026 - North

This is a 7 hour timed trail event held on 11 October 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The course runs along a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral, is classified as trail, and is fully signed. The regular course is flat but may be adjusted after a health and safety review.

Minimum age is 12 years. Anyone wishing to run over 45 km must be 20 years or older; 18 and 19 year olds may run up to 45 km. Maximum field size is 300 entrants and entries close on 10 October 2026.

Medals are awarded to official finishers who complete at least 3 km. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra achievements. An aid table and drinks table are available at the start/finish of each lap, with a selection of drinks and snacks including vegan choices.

Final race instructions are issued by email 7 to 10 days before the event and numbers are collected at race registration on the day. Toilets and changing facilities are available at race HQ. A bag drop is provided near the start/finish but it is not secure. Headphones are permitted.
