Lawrence, United States • 7 Nov 2026
Event Overview
The Sanders' Saunter Charity Race is an annual trail running event hosted by the Lawrence Trail Hawks at Clinton State Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The 2026 event features 10K, 25K, and 50K distances.
Distances and Schedule
- 50K: Starts at 7:00 AM.
- 25K: Starts at 8:00 AM.
- 10K: Starts at 9:00 AM.
There is an 11:30 AM cutoff for 50K runners to begin their second lap.
Course Details
The race starts and finishes at Shelter 1 in the Corps of Engineers area. All courses begin by running west on the white trail before turning south on the yellow trail. Runners ascend and descend the ridge of Sanders Mound.
- 10K Course: After the mound, runners access the Lake Henry Aid Station, return via the blue trail, run the mound again, and finish.
- 25K/50K Course: After the mound, runners continue on the white trail to a connector trail, then take the blue trail back to the finish. The 50K involves two loops of the 25K course.
Aid stations are located at Lake Henry, Lands End, and the Start/Finish line. Runners in the 25K and 50K distances are required to carry a handheld water bottle or hydration pack.
Charity and Fundraising
The event's charity partner is the Falling Forward Foundation, which funds rehabilitation for catastrophic injuries after insurance benefits end. A "Hero Runner" fundraising program offers rewards like free registration, race shirts, hats, shoes, and jackets for participants who raise $250, $500, or $750 for the charity.
Awards and Swag
All finishers receive an award: a mug for the 50K and a medal for the 25K and 10K. The top three male and female finishers in each race receive an award, as does the first-place non-binary finisher in each race. Event swag (like shirts) is sold separately, with all proceeds going to the charity partner.
