San Felipe Shootout

Event format and distances

The San Felipe Shootout takes place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Stephen F. Austin State Park near San Felipe, Texas. The event includes three separate trail races: a 5k, a 10k, and a half marathon. A combined entry called "The Triple" requires participants to run all three races back-to-back-for a cumulative time; runners in The Triple must start each race at the gun. A non-timed kids event, the Kids K, is open to children 12 and under.

Location, logistics and awards

The event base is Park Road 38 in San Felipe, TX 77473, inside Stephen F. Austin State Park. The park offers about 6 miles of hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, geocaching, and a range of campsites including pull-through 30 amp full hook-up RV sites, screen shelters, and tent sites. Packet pickup is offered the day before and on race day at the park dining hall. Guests age 13 and older require a special event park pass; registered participants and volunteers do not. Finishers receive unique medals for each distance; Triple participants receive all three. Awards include shotgun shells for first overall male/female and first masters male/female.
