San Felipe Shootout
The San Felipe Shootout takes place at Stephen F. Austin State Park, situated on the banks of the Brazos River near San Felipe, Texas. This location features six miles of hiking and biking trails and is approximately 30 minutes from the outskirts of Houston. The event provides several trail race options, including a multi-race challenge.
Participants can select from the following event distances:
- 5k trail race
- 10k trail race
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon) trail race
- The Triple (cumulative challenge consisting of the 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon)
- 1k Kids race for participants aged 12 and under
The Triple challenge requires runners to complete all three main distances back-to-back. Participants in this category must start each race at its specific designated gun time. The interval between events serves as a rest period; therefore, a faster finishing time in an earlier race results in a longer break before the next start. Triple participants receive individual results and medals for each distance, alongside a cumulative time and a bonus medal.
The Kids K is a non-timed event that follows a mini-loop. Children must be registered by a parent or guardian and check in for a bib. Packet pickup is available on the day before the race and on the morning of the event. Participants may set up personal support areas with canopies and chairs in designated spots. On-site food options include a BBQ food truck available during the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
