San Felipe Shootout - San Felipe, TX
The San Felipe Shootout is a multi-event trail race held at Stephen F. Austin State Park in San Felipe, Texas. The event offers separate races and a combined format that records a cumulative time across three distances.
Events include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- The Triple (Shootout) - 5k, 10k and Half combined back to back for a cumulative time
- Kids K (non timed, ages 12 and under)
In the Shootout format participants run the three races consecutively and must start each race at the gun. The cumulative time across the three distances determines the Shootout result.
The park sits on the banks of the Brazos River and is about 30 minutes from the outskirts of Houston. Park facilities include roughly six miles of hiking and biking trails, a picnic area, geocaching opportunities, and a variety of campsites including pull through 30 amp full hook up RV sites, screen shelters, and tent campsites. Camping reservations are handled through the park reservation system.
Event services include packet pickup before race day and on race day, live music, and a BBQ food truck. Finishers receive unique medals for each distance and Triple participants receive all three. Awards also include shotgun shells for first overall male and female and for masters male and female. Guests aged 13 and older require a special event guest pass for park entry and concert access; registered participants and volunteers do not require this pass.
