Night Moves Trail Races
Night Moves is an evening trail running event held at Stephen F Austin State Park near San Felipe, Texas, just west of Houston. The event uses a looped course that combines a red loop and a blue loop for roughly 5 km per lap. The marathon and half marathon include a green add-on trail on their first laps.
Trails are wide and mainly gravel and dirt with a few quick elevation changes. The course is marked with reflectors and ribbons. Runners must carry a light and a hydration device; the race is cupless so participants must carry their own bottle or flask. Extra lighting and costumes are permitted.
The event headquarters is the park group dining hall. Packet pickup, timing, the main aid station, medical area, and the start/finish lap area are located there. Parking follows park instructions along the right side of the park road beginning at the group dining hall. A second unmanned water refill is available at a road crossing on the course.
Aid is provided at the Start/Finish aid station with food, drinks, electrolytes, basic medical supplies, and some cooked items in the evening. Aid station supplies are for registered participants during the event. Pacers are not allowed; crew assistance is limited to the start/finish area. Drop bag space is available at the Start/Finish area and runners may set up personal areas on the lawn. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
