Habanero Hundred
Habanero Hundred is a multi-distance trail running event at 7IL Ranch near Cat Spring, Texas, held in August. The event offers individual and relay options across short and ultra distances, with the 100 mile race noted as the marquee event and a 135 mile option added for 2026. All races use a clockwise 10 km loop known as the Yellow Trail, with roughly 280 ft +/- elevation gain per loop.
Distances include:
- 135M
- 100M
- 100K
- 50K
- Marathon (26.2M)
- Half Marathon (13.1M)
- 10K
- 100M relay
- 100K relay
Loop structure and course notes: 100M equals 16 loops, 100K equals 10 loops, 50K equals 5 loops, marathon equals 4 loops plus a short add-on, half marathon equals 2 loops plus a short add-on, and 10K equals one loop. Safety markers appear every kilometer and the course is laid out so no point is more than about 3.0 miles from an aid station.
Aid and support: three aid stations are listed - a full Start/Finish station with support and showers, an unmanned road crossing with water and ice, and the Hot Tamales full aid station at the loop midpoint with drive-up access and drop bag service. Mandatory gear requirements include carrying at least one hydration device with minimum 500 ml capacity and providing a personal cup since the event is cupless. Medical staff and local EMS are part of the safety plan.
Pacing and relay rules: pacing is allowed only for 100M and 100K with one pacer at a time and registration required; pacing for 100M begins after 8 loops and for 100K after 6 loops. Relay teams may have 2 to 5 members, exchanges occur only at the Start/Finish transition area, only one team member may be on course at a time, and a team is recorded as a DNF if a runner starts a loop and cannot continue.
Event amenities and policies note on-site camping and parking with park passes required for non-competitors aged 12 and older, limited RV sites, finisher buckles for 100M and 100K, medals for other distances, and prize awards for top finishers in the 100M event.
