Sabino Canyon Sunset Run : event description
Sabino Canyon Sunset Run is staged at Sabino Canyon in the Coronado National Forest near Tucson, Arizona. The event offers two distances and a limited field; registration may close early when capacity is reached and there is no in-person registration at the race site.
The event distances:
- 7.4 Miles
- 2 Miles
The 7.4 mile course requires participants to maintain a sub-19 minute per mile pace. Runners must reach the turnaround at the top of the tram road within 70 minutes and reach the third aid station at mile 5.1 within 95 minutes or they will be removed from the course for safety and course-clearance reasons. Walkers who cannot meet these time requirements are asked to enter the 2 mile event.
Awards and participant items are provided as follows: the 7.4 mile event awards top three overall male and female finishers, top masters, and top three in five-year age groups up to 80+ with Performance Footwear gift certificates. Registrants in both distances receive a race shirt, and 7.4 mile finishers receive a finisher medal. All finishers are offered pizza, snacks, eegees, music, and postrace refreshments at the finish area.
Discounts: Southern Arizona Roadrunners (SAR) members receive a discount that covers RunSignup fees. Native American registrants and active duty or retired military may use provided discount codes for a percentage reduction. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
