Sabino Canyon Sunset Run 7.4 Mile & 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk - April 11, 2026

The event takes place at Sabino Canyon, 5700 N Sabino Canyon Rd, Tucson, AZ. Two distances are offered:

  • 7.4 Mile - part of The Running Shop SAR Grand Prix
  • 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk - one mile up and back, no aid station

The 7.4 mile course follows the paved main tram road into the canyon. The first 3.7 miles are generally uphill, with the return providing downhill miles back to the start. Aid stations with water are located at miles 1.7, 3.4, and 5.1. The 2 mile course is an out-and-back of one mile each way; participants on that course should plan to carry their own water.

Runners in the 7.4 mile event must maintain a sub 19 minute per mile pace. Participants must reach the turnaround at mile 3.7 within 70 minutes and the aid station at mile 5.1 within 95 minutes or they will be removed from the course for safety and logistical reasons.

Each distance has a participation cap and the event has historically sold out. Once a distance is full no additional registrations will be accepted. No transfers, refunds, or deferrals are allowed. Registrations completed by April 5, 2026 (or before a distance sells out) are eligible for an event shirt.

Entrants receive event shirts; 7.4 mile finishers receive a finisher medal. Prizes are awarded for overall and 5-year age groups in the 7.4 mile. Finish-line provisions include pizza and snacks, and 2 mile finishers receive Eegees. Participants entering Sabino Canyon must display a National Parks pass or pay the day-use entry fee. The event benefits Friends of Sabino Canyon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
