The Russell Forest Run takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Russell Crossroads near Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama. The event offers two race distances on a certified course that uses packed sand, clay, and gravel surfaces designed for runners, bicycles, and electric cars.

  • 10K - certified course over sand, clay and gravel with views from Heaven Hill.
  • 5K - out and back on the same surface starting at the Town Green.

The route begins at Russell Crossroads, passes near Kob's Knob and up to Heaven Hill, and returns to a finish area by The Stables at Russell Crossroads. The finish area serves as the site of the post-race gathering where a Grits Bar and live music are part of the event atmosphere. Packet pickup for both races is available the day before and the morning of the event at the Discovery Center at Russell Crossroads, 111 Benson Mill Road, Alexander City, AL. Pets are not allowed on the course.
