Lake Martin 50/50 - April 4, 2026
The Lake Martin 50/50 is a trail ultramarathon held at Russell Lands on Lake Martin in Alexander City, East Central Alabama. The event offers two distance options and uses the Russell Forest Trail System on private land.
- 50 Mile: two full laps of a 25.09 mile loop.
- 50K: one full 25.09 mile lap plus an additional south loop.
Each full lap is divided into a North Loop and a South Loop; the North Loop is approximately 18.6 miles with the South Loop about 6.4 miles. Each 25.09 mile loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Trails are described as runnable and generally non-technical, but runners should watch for roots and sections with fist-sized granite. Most hills are short, generally under 100 feet, with a notable half mile climb at Heaven Hill that gains about 200 feet.
Aid is available on course with four aid station stops per 25 mile loop, including two stops at the Heaven Hill station and two at the Cabin station. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, grab and go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start and finish area.
Logistics include packet pickup on the weekend before and the morning of the race, crew parking restrictions with a required parking permit on Russell Lands, and a prohibition on camping on Russell Lands. Registration opens August 15, 2025, closes March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM, and race shirt orders close March 14, 2026. The start/finish location is Russell Crossroads, 17 Russell Farms Road, Alexander City, AL with GPS 32.764355, -85.945177.
