Pinhoti 100, Sylacauga AL
The Pinhoti 100 is a point to point trail race finishing at Sylaward Trail Head at Lake Howard in Sylacauga Alabama. The course covers 100 miles and includes about 83 miles of single track, 17 miles of jeep road and 2 miles of pavement. Runners traverse ridge lines, creeks and rock sections and pass over the highest point in Alabama within the Talladega National Forest.
The event has a 32 hour cutoff for the 100 mile distance. Multiple aid stations are positioned along the route and several accept drop bags. Examples include Aid 5 Morgan Lake, Aid 7 Lake Cheaha, Aid 10 Adams Gap, Aid 13 Porters Gap and Aid 16 Bulls Gap. Restroom facilities are listed at the start, downtown Heflin and at several aid stations.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at Sylaward Trail Head at Lake Howard and drop bags are accepted at packet pickup only. Bus transportation from Sylaward to the start is offered for a fee and must be purchased in advance. Parking attendants and signage will direct vehicles at the start and finish areas.
Results will be posted on Ultrasignup. Awards include top three overall male and female, masters and grand masters and a buckle for all finishers. The race edition also serves as a Western States qualifier. Event rules prohibit strollers, animals, bicycles and unentered participants and require pets to be kept away from aid station areas.
