Event overview

The Pinhoti 100 is a point-to-point 100-mile trail race held in Alabama. The 2026 running is the 19th annual Pinhoti 100 and is a Western States qualifier for 2027. The race has a 32-hour time limit. Registration closes on October 17. An early registration price and a refund policy are offered; a full refund is available through March 28, 2026, with reduced refunds available through August 1.

Course and logistics

The course begins on the Pinhoti single-track trail near Heflin and finishes at Lake Howard on the Sylaward Trail. The route includes approximately 83 miles of single track, 17 miles of jeep road, and 2 miles of pavement. Runners cross the highest point in Alabama and travel over rocky sections, creeks, and ridge lines in Talladega National Forest.

Packet pickup occurs the day before the race at the Sylaward Trail Head (Lake Howard). Bibs, crew display cards, and drop-bag drop off are handled at packet pickup; drop bags are accepted only at that time. Bus transportation from Sylaward to the start is available for a fee if purchased in advance. Camping is available at Lake Howard with a suggested donation; primitive camping has bathrooms but no showers.

Aid stations, crews and awards

There are multiple aid stations along the course with mile locations and crew or drop-bag rules (for example Aid 1 at 7 miles, Aid 7 at 43.52 miles with drop bag access, Aid 17 at 95.88 miles). Certain aid stations are water only or do not allow crews. Crew vehicle access at the start uses an odd/even vehicle system. Cheaha State Park crew passes must be purchased in advance and have specified fees for adults, children, seniors, and active military. Results are posted on Ultrasignup and all finishers receive a buckle; podium awards are given for top overall, master, and grand master divisions.
