The Rebecca Mountain event in Sylacauga, AL, on September 12, 2026, includes two point-to-point trail races: a 50 Miler and a 50K. This is the 10th annual running of the races on the Pinhoti Trail system. Time limits are 16 hours for the 50 Miler and 10 hours for the 50K. The race start is at Porter’s Gap (Hwy 77) and the finish is at Lake Howard / Sylaward Trails.

Course and logistics

The 50 Miler follows single-track Pinhoti Trail, forest service roads, and Sylaward Trails: about 31 miles of single-track on the Pinhoti, roughly 6 miles of forest road, and about 12 miles on Sylaward Trails. The course lists approximately 5,171 feet of elevation gain. The 50K follows the same route for the first 19 miles, then continues on forest service roads before joining the Sylaward Trails to the finish at Lake Howard.

Aid stations are positioned along the courses with named locations and mile markers (examples include Pinnacle at 7 miles, Powerline at 13 miles, Bulls Gap at 19 miles, and Trammel at 31 miles for the 50 Miler). Packet pickup is scheduled at Lake Howard on the Friday before the race and the morning of the race at Porters Gap. Bus service from Lake Howard to Porters Gap is available for a fee. Parking at the start is limited; restrooms are available at the start and finish. There are no refunds, no race-day registration, no transfers, and no deferrals. Awards include top three overall male and female, master and grand master winners, and medals for all finishers. Trail runs nearby

Run a certified 5K or 10K over scenic sand, clay and gravel roads around Lake Martin, starting and finishing at Russell Crossroads. Finish with a Grits Bar and live music and help support the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation.

Thunder Kiss on March 14 at Double Oak Park near Birmingham serves rugged single track with ridge running, rocks, roots and a waterfall. Choose 100 Mile, 100K or 20 Mile loops for a challenging, scenic trail day.
