Event Overview

The RunForJo 2026 takes place at Oakwell Hall and Country Park in Birstall, West Yorkshire. This event serves as a commemorative gathering to celebrate the life and values of Jo Cox, focusing on the message that there is more in common than that which divides us. Organized by MoreInCommon Batley & Spen, the event supports local projects through its proceeds. The 2026 edition marks the tenth and final scheduled occurrence of this gathering.

Course Information

Participants can choose between two main distances on the day:

  • 6.5 km multi-terrain cross country challenge
  • 2.5 km family fun run

The 6.5 km course consists of two laps and features an undulating profile. This route is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the terrain. While the course is marshalled, children under the age of 11 must remain with a responsible adult at all times during the event. An additional Mascots' Race is held later in the morning.

Facilities and Logistics

The Race HQ is located opposite Oakwell Hall on Nutter Lane. Available facilities include toilets, water stations, and distance markers along the route. There is an unsupervised baggage storage area where items must be collected by early afternoon; however, no changing or shower facilities are available on-site.

Participation is limited to 250 runners for the main challenge. Entry must be completed in advance as there is no registration available on the day of the race. Trail races at Bramham Park on 12 April 2026 include 5km, 10km and a half marathon across estate trails and views. The event allows one controlled dog per runner and provides live chip timing and finisher medals.
