Event

Run The Mounds is an annual race day held on November 1, 2026 at Mounds State Park in Anderson, IN (4306 Mounds Road, 46017). The event offers multiple races and a children's fun run. Distances include:

  • 5K run
  • 5K walk
  • 5 MI - Student (open to ages 19 and under)
  • 5K - Student
  • 5K Walk - Student
  • Kids 1 mile Fun Run

Course and logistics

Both the 5 MI and 5K courses are reported as 92% trail and 8% blacktop. Courses start on grass and then use the park trail system; trails may contain ruts, rocks, stumps, roots, leaves and other natural debris. Under some conditions the route may have mud, water hazards, or slippery/icy sections. There are two water stops on course at the 1.5 mile and 3.0 mile marks. All timed participants will have a timing chip on their race bib.

Packet pickup is available on race day from noon until 1:45 pm; packet pickup closes at 1:45 pm. Pre-registration ends at 11:59 PM EST on October 28, or when events sell out; there is no day-of registration. Parking is limited and restricted to designated lots and areas. Restrooms are available near the Woodland Shelter, Nature Center, Pavilion, and near the Camp Store. All finishers receive a finisher medal; top three male and female overall finishers receive special overall awards. Trail runs nearby

Take on scenic trails at Mounds State Park on March 7, 2026 with 5K and 15K options as part of the DINO Trail Run Series. Enjoy river views, ceremonial mounds, on course aid stations and heated facilities for a comfortable race day.

An endurance ruck and a 5k trail ruck at Harbour Shores Church on a mostly unpaved one mile loop. Participants carry a rucksack loaded to ten percent of body weight and have space for team support.
