Run the Mounds

Event overview

Run The Mounds takes place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana (4306 Mounds Road). The event includes timed races and a kids fun run. Distances offered include:

• 5 miles
• 5K
• 5K walk
• 1 mile kids fun run

The Anderson Road Runners Club organizes the event. Student entry options are available for the 5-mile, 5K, and 5K walk. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Top three overall male and female finishers in each timed race receive an overall award; there are no separate age-group awards.

Course, logistics and post-race

Both the 5-mile and 5K courses are mostly trail - about 92% trail and 8% blacktop. Courses start on grass and use the park trail system. Trails may contain ruts, rocks, stumps, roots, leaves and other natural debris; under some conditions participants may encounter mud, water hazards, or slippery/icy sections. There are two water stops on course located at the 1.5-mile and 3.0-mile marks; volunteers will fill cups. Race bibs include timing chips and should be worn on the front. Parking is limited and restricted to designated lots; no parking on roads or in grass unless directed by a park ranger. Post-race food and refreshments are served at the main pavilion and proceeds support ARRC activities, the Roady Racers children's run series, and Mounds State Park.
