Run the Keweenaw : Copper Harbor area trail weekend
Run the Keweenaw is a multi-event trail weekend held in the Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor area of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. The program includes several distinct trail events located mainly around Grant Township Park, Brockway Mountain, Fort Wilkins trails, and Mt. Baldy (Lookout Mountain).
Events
- 6k Mt. Baldy Summit Run
- 10k Copper Harbor Trails Challenge
- 10k Copper Harbor Trails Non-Competitive Run/Hike
- 2k Junior Trail Run
- 25k Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run
The Mt. Baldy Hillclimb is a point-to-point ascent that begins in Eagle Harbor and finishes at the peak of Mt. Baldy; participants return to the base on their own. That hillclimb is self-supported and carrying water is recommended. The 10k Copper Harbor Trails Challenge and the 25k Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run start and finish at Grant Township Park and use singletrack and rustic trails on Brockway Mountain and nearby routes. Those events provide aid stations along the course.
Awards and event features include age-group prizes for top three male and female finishers in multiple age brackets, door prizes at each event, and weekend cumulative awards for fastest total time, fastest under-23 total time, and special awards for finishes near the participant average and the longest total time. A junior 2k run offers fun prizes for younger entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
