Run the Keweenaw weekend trail events
Run the Keweenaw is a weekend of trail races on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula held on local rugged and scenic trails. Events span short youth distances to longer singletrack adventure runs and include both competitive and non-competitive options.
Distances offered:
- 6K Mt. Baldy Summit Run
- 10K Copper Harbor Trails Challenge
- 10K Copper Harbor Trails Non-Competitive Run/Hike
- 2K Junior Trail Run
- 25K Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run
The Mt. Baldy Hillclimb starts at the corner of Pine and Fourth Street in Eagle Harbor and finishes at the peak of Mt. Baldy, also called Lookout Mountain, outside of Eagle Harbor. Participants return to the base of the climb on their own; no transportation is provided.
The Copper Harbor events start and finish at Grant Township Park in Copper Harbor. The 10K Copper Harbor Trails Challenge includes Paul's Plunge, the Point Trail 1.0, and harbor views along the Fort Wilkins rustic trails. The Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run uses custom singletrack on Brockway Mountain and trails below the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.
Mt. Baldy is self supported and carrying water is recommended regardless of air temperature. The Copper Harbor Trails Challenge and the Carl Olson Adventure Run provide aid stations along the course.
Locally made gifts are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in age categories U20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Door prizes are given at each event. Combined weekend awards recognize the top five overall male and female total times for participants entering all three weekend events, fastest under 23 totals, the total time closest to the participant average, and the longest total time Sisu award.
