Run the Keweenaw 2026

Run the Keweenaw is a weekend trail festival in Copper Harbor, Michigan, held July 11–12, 2026. The event groups multiple trail races at nearby trailheads and parks, with individual race formats ranging from a short junior run to a longer adventure course.

Distances and events include:

  • 2 km Junior Trail Run
  • 6 km The Nature Conservancy Mt. Baldy Hillclimb
  • 10 km Copper Harbor Trails Challenge
  • 10 km Copper Harbor Trails Non-Competitive Run/Hike
  • 25 km Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run

The Mt. Baldy Hillclimb begins at the corner of Pine and Fourth Street in Eagle Harbor and finishes at the peak of Mt. Baldy (Lookout Mountain); return to the base is the responsibility of participants and no transportation is provided. The Copper Harbor races start and finish at Grant Township Park. The 10 km challenge includes sections named Paul’s Plunge and Point Trail 1.0 with views along Fort Wilkins trails. The 25 km Carl Olson Adventure Run uses custom singletrack on Brockway Mountain and classic trails below the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.

Mt. Baldy is self-supported and carrying water is recommended. The Copper Harbor Trails Challenge and the Carl Olson run provide aid stations. Age-group awards and locally made prizes are given at individual events, with additional weekend awards for combined results, door prizes and special recognitions including Young Guns and Sisu awards.
